আতর collection - Narcotic Venus
Narcotic Venus, as the name implies, aims for intoxicating. The opening is a voluptuous blast of tuberose, undeniably the star, tempered by what smells like a hint of jasmine and perhaps a touch of lily. There’s a powdered sweetness clinging to the white florals, preventing it from becoming overtly sharp, yet hinting at something spicier lurking beneath. Nasomatto’s secrecy regarding the full composition only adds to its mystique.
However, the “vavavoom” doesn’t last an eternity. After a relatively fleeting 4 hours, the initial floral intensity gives way to a drier, more powdery rendition of its former self. The promised woody musk base grounds the sweetness, preventing it from becoming cloying, but also rendering the drydown less compelling than the initial fanfare.
Longevity, overall, is decent enough for a special occasion scent. You’ll get a good evening’s wear out of it, but be prepared for the transformation. Narcotic Venus isn’t groundbreaking, but it’s a well-executed, albeit slightly predictable, take on tuberose. A worthwhile indulgence for those who enjoy a powdery, white floral with a touch of intrigue, but not quite the narcotic experience I craved.
