Slumberhouse Norne

6.8 / 10 2026-05-18

Norne opens with a bracingly realistic fir accord, the kind that evokes the deep, shadowed heart of a Nordic forest. Hints of incense weave through the initial burst of pine, adding a touch of mystical gravity. It promises an olfactory journey, but sadly, the trip is shorter than expected.

The dry down, rather abruptly, becomes a fairly linear resinous-woody scent. The initial complexity fades, leaving a somewhat muted, albeit pleasant, impression of coniferous woods. The advertised spicy notes remain elusive for many.

Longevity is where Norne departs from the common consensus. While some find it fleeting, on my skin, it persists for a respectable amount of time. Sillage, however, remains intimate, projecting only slightly beyond the skin. This makes it ideal for personal enjoyment but less suitable for making a grand statement.

Ultimately, Norne is a slightly flawed but intriguing creation. Its initial promise surpasses its execution, and given its often discontinued status and high price on the secondary market, it’s hard to recommend without reservation. A beautiful concept, hampered by a linear development, makes it a decent but overrated offering.
